The Main Quadrangle (Main Quad) is the most prominent original feature of Stanford University, established in 1891 after six years of planning and building. Located at the end of Palm Drive, which features an oval-shaped parking area (the Oval), the Quad is comprised of 28 individual buildings that form an outer and inner perimeter.

Driving Directions to Palm Drive

From Highway 101 (North and South) - Take the Embarcadero Road exit west toward Stanford. Embarcadero turns into Galvez Road. Continue until Campus Drive. Turn right on Campus Drive East and make a left onto Palm Drive.

From Highway 280 (North and South) - Exit Sand Hill Road west towards Stanford. Continue downhill and turn right on Santa Cruz Avenue. Make an immediate left onto Junipero Serra Boulevard. Turn left at the first stoplight, Campus Drive West. Continue on Campus Drive West as it curves to the right and left. Turn right on Roth Way, pass Lomita Drive, and make right onn Palm Drive.

From El Camino Real (North and South) - Exit El Camino Real at University Avenue. Take University Avenue West (Palm Drive), away from Palo Alto. University becomes Palm Drive.

Parking

Because the classroom is located in the heart of the main campus, there is no parking nearby. There are several parking options, each varies in its proximity to the classroom and number of available spaces (and probability of finding an open spot). The availability of parking spaces is affected by the schedule of special Stanford events.

The nearest parking (including disabled parking spots) is along the the Oval. There are relatively few of these popular spaces.

Along Lomita Drive, there are spaces in front of the Cantor Center for Visual Arts, the Rodin Sculpture Garden, and the Old Chemistry Building.

There is a large number of parking spaces available in the multi-story parking structure (PS-1) off of Campus Drive and Roth Way.

Additional parking is available along Santa Teresa Street and in lots near Samuel Morris Way and at the corner of Lomita Drive.

Other parking areas can be found on the maps.

Building and Classroom Access

Classroom 370 is accessible from the arch-lined arcade adjacent to Lomita Mall. (The classroom is not on the third floor!) From the Oval, use the ramped path to the right of the central steps to reach the arcade level.

The classroom can accommodate wheelchair users in the front of the room.

A wheelchair accessible unisex restroom can be found on the 1st floor of Building 370.

On-campus Access
