Call for Assistive Technology Faire Participants

This event - scheduled for Thursday, February 19th - will provide an opportunity for students and community members to get an up-close look at a variety of assistive technology devices and learn about available services.

Users of assistive technology products as well as small companies and agencies serving individuals with disabilities and older adults are encouraged to bring assistive technology devices to display, demonstrate, and discuss.

Tables and power will be provided for participants outside of the course classroom during the scheduled class time. (Please note that only a few tables are available, so bring you own if you can.)

If you are a vendor of assistive technology products or supply assistive technology services and would like to participate, please contact me and submit the following information for the Faire webpage:

  • Name of the assistive technology device(s)
  • Photo of the assistive technology device(s)
  • Name of manufacturer along with webpage url
  • A short description of the device that includes what it is, what it does, who it benefits, and any special features.

On the date of the Faire:

  • Arrive at the classroom at 4pm and plan to stay until 5:30pm or until it gets dark.
  • Bring handout material.
  • Be prepared to provide demonstrations of the device and explain its features.
  • Be ready to answer questions about the device: the problem it addresses, who would benefit from its use, why the device is superior to other commercial products, specifics of the design/development process pursued, and marketing information.
  • Encourage students and community members to try the device.
  • Anticipate cool weather, so dress warmly.

Please note that this is meant to be an educational event rather than an opportunity for sales.
